Nellie Medford

January 15, 1930 — August 10, 2009

Nellie Snyder Medford, age 79, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Vance and Addie Turner Snyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Medford, who died in 1989; six brothers, Hilliard, Homer, Leonard, J.B., Carl, and Charles Snyder; and one sister, Pearl Thompson. Nellie was employed by Haywood Regional Medical Center for five years and was a member of Long's United Methodist Church. She had a love for art and spent the majority of her free time painting. She also loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Boyce A. Medford, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Weaverville; two daughters, Janice Medford of Lake City, FL and Susan Hyatt of Canton; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Gerald T. Denham officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
