Nellie Owen

Waynesville, Nellie Owen, age 80, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Marion and Mattie Leatherwood Messer. She was also preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. Nellie was a member of the Cove Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Hershel; a daughter, Barbara Owen and a son, Charles David Owen, both of Waynesville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Cove Creek Baptist Church with Reverend John Grasty, Reverend Erma Bond and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Owen Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
