Nellie Revis

"1933 – 2016" Canton – Nellie Jane Holland Revis, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at The Homestead, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Elwood H. Holland and Jane Leatherwood Holland Pressley and Clayton Pressley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Cole Revis, who died in 1983; one grandson, Brandon Sharp; two great-grandsons, Cole and Cade Smith; and a son-in-law, Wayne Singleton. Nellie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend who could put a smile on the face of all she met. She was a life-long member and the pianist for Burnette Cove Baptist Church for close to 70 years. Nellie was an employee of Sky City and then Walmart until her retirement. Her hobbies were playing the organ, traveling, sewing, and quilting. When her health allowed, she delivered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Cruso Friendship Club, helping raise money for Hospice and scholarships for Haywood County students. She is survived by three daughters, Pat (Mike) Sharp and Carolyn Singleton of Cruso, and Sharon (Wayne) Woodrow of Waynesville; a son, Johnnny (Vivian) Revis of Clyde; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Pat) Pressley of Kansas City, MO; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and one very special cousin, Helen Brookshire of the Burnette Cove community. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Scotty Rollins and Reverend Harry Worley officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Haywood County, 157 Paragon Parkway, Clyde, NC 28721. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 4th floor and 4th floor ICU of Mission Hospital and also the very caring staff of The Homestead.
