Nellie Seitz

Waynesville, Nellie Kate Seitz, age 80, of Hillside Terrace Drive, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Rutherford, NC, she was the daughter of the late Volney and Mattie Lou Philbeck Earley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Nellie Kate was the Salutatorian of Cool Spring High School in 1949. She was a former employee of G.B. Harrell in Forest City and McElroy and Seitz Oil Company in Waynesville. Nellie Kate retired as a Bookkeeper at Smith's Drug Store and was a very active member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. Nellie Kate enjoyed attending her granddaughter's dance events, tending to her garden and traveling on senior citizen trips. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Seitz-Wood and her husband, Ronald, of Winston Salem, NC; one granddaughter, Katie Wood; one sister, Doris Wilson of Forest City, NC ; a sister-in-law, Margaret Morrison and her husband, Yates, of Bostic, NC; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Sanford Giles officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
