Nellie Surrett

Nellie Worley Surrett, age 94, of 2361 Beaverdam Road died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Reverend Sherman and Nina West Worley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Ralph McKinley Surrett who died in 2004 and three daughters, Wilma Freeman, Sue Collins, and Linda Trull. She was a homemaker and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. Her joys included singing and simply spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Willis and her husband, Pork and Grace Chapman and her husband, John, all of Canton; a son, Ralph Surrett, Jr., and his wife, Marie, of Canton; a sister, Geneva Clark of Asheville; a brother, Jim Worley of Candler; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Reverend Gene Worley officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at her home, 2361 Beaverdam Road.
