Nettie Robertson

Canton-Nettie Mae, age 83, died Friday, March 5, 2004 Canton Christian Convalesce Center in Canton.

She was born May 14, 1920 in Macon County, North Carolina to the late Robert Monroe and Pearl Sorrells Robertson. Also deceased are her sisters, Evelyn Swain and Hilda Melton, and brothers, William, Woodrow, Carroll, James, and Ralph Robertson.

Nettie lived with her family in Canton most of her life except for a few years in San Francisco, California, where her husband was stationed during World War II. She enjoyed caring for her family, making beautiful quilts, braided rugs, life-like dolls, and gardening with her husband. She was a member of Canton Presbyterian Church.

Nettie is survived by her husband of 63 years, William "Billo" Robertson, their children, Sandra Hudson and her husband James of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Charles and James Robertson, and Kathy Warren and her husband Duke, all of Canton, one sister, Martha Lunsford, of Albemarle, North Carolina and one brother, James Robertson of Welford, South Carolina. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kris Reddin and her husband James, Tracy Russell and her husband Brian, Josey Warren, all of Canton and Shelley and Jessica Robertson of Hagerstown, Maryland, six great-grandchildren, Branden and Colby Reddin, Cassidy and Clayton Russell, of Canton and Zane and Kylie Rae Grove of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Celebration of life services will be conducted at the Canton Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004 with Reverend Beverly Brock and Reverend Riley Covin officiating. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services in Canton. A Private inurnment will be at Locust Field Cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers and in memory of Nettie Mae, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children, Rt. 1, Box 244, Black Mountain, NC, 287821.
