Nevil Cope

"1930 – 2015" Canton – Nevil Lee Williams Cope, age 84, formerly of the Stamey Cove community, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Reverend Joe and Leona Sayles Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Cope, Sr., who died in 1999. Nevil Lee enjoyed crafts, canning, quilt making and most of all loving her family. She was also a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by four sons, James Ray "J.R." Cope, Jr. and his wife, Linda, Phillip Cope, David Cope and his wife, Della, and Terry Cope and his wife, Gail, all in Stamey Cove, Waynesville; one sister, Bernice Crowder of Waynesville; two brothers, Rayburn Williams of Tennessee and Dudley Williams of Canton; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson and Reverend Rick Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
