Nina Chafin

Waynesville, Nina Wright Chafin, age 90, of 138 Short Street, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Margaret Hipps Wright. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Chafin in 2006 and one brother, Robert Wright in 2007. Nina was employed by the Town of Waynesville and a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Ted Caldwell of Estill Springs, TN and Miles Chafin and his wife, Patricia, of Ashdown, AR; one daughter, Elaine Madison and her husband, Jim, of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Misty Garland, Richard Redmond, Rob Chafin, Tommy Caldwell, Patrick Chafin, and Corinna Escalet; and ten great grandchildren, Ashli Garland, Shea, Stacey, Melodie, Jennie, and Jamie Caldwell, Bradley and Makenna Chafin, and Gabriel and Nathan Escalet. The family would like to acknowledge her four caregivers, Diane Lane, Teresa Goodson, Gwen Watts, and Susan Passmore. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Kathy Wilson officiating.
