Waynesville, Nina Sapp Small, age 85, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at her residence surrounded by family. A native of Chatham County, Georgia she was the daughter of the late James Daniel and Mary Crapse Sapp. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas I. Small, who passed away in 1980, a daughter, Sharon Daniels, one sister, Margaret Alderman and one brother, James David Sapp. Nina was a Title 1 Reading Specialist for the St. Lucie County School Board helping countless children over her many years of service. She was a gifted seamstress and a true patron of the arts. Nina especially enjoyed listening to piano, violin, cello, flute and vocal performances by her husband and grandchildren. She loved animals, travel and the outdoors. Nina was a member of Crabtree United Methodist Church. Nina is survived by her three daughters, Charmaine DeRosa and Maureen Woodrow, both of Waynesville and Bridget Small, of Burns, Oregon; four sons, Patrick Small, Michael Small, and his wife, Janet, both of Fort Pierce, Florida, Dr. Shaun Small, and his wife, Carmen, of Tampa Bay, Florida and Brian Small, and his wife, Virginia Welford, of Hillsborough, North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, Keith Daniels, Teresa, Mark and Jeff DeRosa, Stephanie and Alex Woodrow, Patrick, Christopher, Chelsey, Gabrielle and Emily Small, Nathanael, Keegan, Annabelle, and Riley Welford-Small; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Reverend Terry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Garden.
