Nora Haynes

Nora Lee Underwood Haynes went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, April 23, 2010, at the age of 95. She was born and raised in Waynesville and was the daughter of the late Alice Lominac and Edward Underwood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wayne Haynes; her sisters, Ruby Haynes, Jo Cathey, and Flo Underwood; and her brothers, Frank and Lawrence Underwood. She and her husband, Wayne, moved to Pasadena, Texas where they lived for 35 years and raised their three children. When her husband retired from Champion in 1971, they returned to the mountains of North Carolina. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clyde. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Haynes and his wife, Linda, of Georgetown, TX; her daughter, Diane Dolman and her husband, Bob, of Clyde; and her son, Gary Haynes of Clyde. She had seven grandchildren, Kenny, Susan, Stephen, Sara, Lisa, Robert, and Ashley; and six great-grandchildren, Sierra, McKinsey, Aubree, Ryan, Lydia, and Robert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
