Waynesville-Norma Brown Carpender, 51, of 102 Clearwater Drive, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2006 at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Mae Burr Brown. She was a member of Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. Norma was a wonderful wife, momma and granny. She loved her five little Chihuahuas: Beeper, Miss Pooh, Little Bit, Miss Ohpo and Lit Lin " Junior". She is survived by her husband of 30 years, William Carpender; one daughter, Emily Shook, and her husband, Jack, of Candler, NC; two sons, Anthony Phillips, and his wife, Rena, of Waynesville, Brad Phillips, of Canton; one sister, Vicki Bryson, and her husband, Charles, of Dillsboro, NC; one brother, Johnny "Mac" Brown, and his wife Sheila, of Clyde; three grandchildren, Jessica Kinghorn, Teri Jean Phillips, and Amanda Jean Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, and at other times, at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Murray, Terry Rogers, Shannon Bryson, Mike Bryson, Thomas Brown, Dewayne Ford, and David Ford.
