Norman Roy Anderson, Sr., 81, of Asheville, passed away at home on Friday, January 6, 2017. He was born in Richmond, Long Island to the late Theodore Roy and Alpha Johansen Anderson. He was a generous, sentimental and charitable man and was one of the founding members of ABCCM and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He loved playing in the Paul Nichols Orchestra and riding his motorcycle. One of his proudest moments was driving his BMW motorcycle from Asheville to Alaska and back.
His family was his pride and joy, and those surviving are his wife, Ann Cloninger Anderson; children, Jill Anderson, Norman "Andy" (Michelle) Anderson, Jr., Tina Anderson of Quebec and Joy (William) Anderson Gallion; brother, Ted (Donna) of Indiana; grandchildren, Carlee, Josi, Aubrey, Matthew, Kayla, Drew, Marie-Helene, Christophe, Julien, Lucien, Devin, Josh, Israel, and Summer; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 14th at Abernethy United Methodist Church in Asheville followed by a gathering of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abernethy United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Avenue, Asheville NC 28806 or to ABCCM, 30 Cumberland Ave., Asheville, NC 28801.
