Norman Stuart, Sr.

November 20, 1925 — March 12, 2011

Clyde, Norman William Stuart, Sr, age 85, of Jones Cove Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ross William and Myrtle King Stuart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna, Gladys and Mabel. He was a United States Navy Veteran. Norman retired from Champion International as a shift foreman with 39 years service. Norman loved the Atlanta Braves; and he and his wife, Ethel, attended many spring training games in Florida. He also enjoyed working with his cows and gardening. Norman was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ethel M. Stuart; a son, William Stuart, Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Arden; a daughter, Gayla Jones and her husband, Bill, of Canton; two brothers, Roy Stuart and his wife, Viola, of Canton and R.W. Stuart, Jr., and his wife, Naomi, of Bethel;five grandchildren, Wendy Stubblefield and her husband, Phil, Carl Garrett, Jr., Nathan Garrett and his wife, Nancy, Jennifer Gonzalez and her husband, Jose, Will Stuart, III, and his fiancé, Andrea Ewald; 10 great-grandchildren, Caroline, Ellen, Philip, III, and Henry Stubblefield, Noland, Peyton and Eli (Buckaroo) Garrett; Adrian and Amaury Gonzalez and Erin Wilson. The family would also like to thank a special caregiver, Sue Zarczynski and Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice for their care and compassion they showed to Norman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Nathan Garrett and Reverend George Holley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family appreciates flowers.
