Northern Parham

Leicester-Northern Jackson Parham, age 90, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a son of the late Charlie Monroe and Phoebie King Parham. He was the husband of Nellie West Parham who died in 1983 and was also preceded in death by one daughter, one son, a grandson, a great-grandson, 11 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by two daughters, Gracie Jones and Kathleen "Penny" Cole, both of Leicester, three sons, Tommy, Jimmy and Billy Parham, all of Leicester, one sister, Dessie Wood of Asheville, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Harold Cable officiating. Burial will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery in Leicester. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his son, Tommy Parham, 1234 Newfound Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
