Oberia Cole

Mrs. Celia Oberia Warren Cole, 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Bermuda Commons in Davie County, North Carolina, where she lived during the past year. Oberia was born on December 9, 1913, in Candler, daughter of the late Charles Leslie Warren and Watie Lou Jackson. She was the devoted wife of Otis Wilson Cole, who died in 1983. Oberia loved her church, serving as one of the first deaconesses of the First Baptist Church of Clyde. She loved her family, and is remembered for her kind and gracious manner. She enjoyed baking, Bible study, and quilting, and for many years worked at the school cafeteria at North Canton Elementary School. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Jo Cole Morgan of Clemmons, North Carolina, and her husband, Richard; and three grandsons, Van Morgan of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and his wife, Kirsten; Eric Morgan of Kernersville, North Carolina, and his wife, Dawn; and Dr. Alan Morgan of Leland, North Carolina, and his wife, Kristen. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; John Cole Morgan, Gwyneth Turner, Matthew Morgan and Sarah Morgan. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Snow Hill United Methodist Church in Candler, North Carolina, with the Rev. David Peeler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
