Waynesville, Reverend Odie Fish, age 92, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and life long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Elbert and Adell Parton Fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Messer Fish, who died in 2001; one son, Dale Fish; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; and one great-grandson. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, where he pastored for 25 years. As well as being a minister, he was a carpenter and also enjoyed music and making videos. He is survived by two sons, Ronald Fish and wife, Cecile, of Waynesville and Leonard Fish and wife, Nancy, of Clyde; three daughters, Olene Fish James and husband, Ed, and Jean Fish Fincher of Clyde and Darlene Fish Williams and husband, Hugh, of Waynesville; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at White Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Putnam and Reverend Elisha Fish officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Wood, Dewayne and Jeremy Fish, Brad Williams, Israel Lanning, and Raife Davis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
