Candler- Lois West Stroupe - age 77 of the Candler community died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a brief illness. She was a resident of Buncombe County and a daughter of the late Silas Andrew and Nonnie Brown West and the wife of the late Harry Alexander Stroupe who died in Oct., 2004. Mrs. Stroupe was preceded in death by a son, Joe Stroupe and one brother John West. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church where she was secretary of her Sunday School Class and a member of the WMU. She was a homemaker, loving mother, wife and Granny. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Snoddy of Etowah; one son, Jim Stroupe and his wife Mary of Debary, Fl; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Stroupe of Candler; one sister, Edna Mae Bagley of Sumter, SC; one brother, Howard West and his wife Wanda of Canton; four grandchildren, Jessica Stroupe, Misty Stroupe, Kris Stroupe, Eddie Snoddy and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15. 2005 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eddie Snoddy, Ronnie Stamey, Jim McConnell, Edwin Goodson, Mike and Eddie Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 206 Wiggins Road in Candler. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old US 19-23 Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
