"1925 – 2015" Canton – Olen Thomas Tatham, Sr., age 89, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late Henry Thomas and Victoria Nations Tatham. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Tatham. Olen was a member of Plains United Methodist Church and retired from Champion International with 43 years of service. He worked the Tatham Farm of Fletcher for 18 years and was a United States Army Air Force veteran having served in World War II. Olen enjoyed going to ballgames to watch his grandson play and also loved to go fishing. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Ann Jones Tatham; one daughter, Sherry Wells and her husband, Robert, of Greer, South Carolina; a son, Tom Tatham and his wife, Travis, of Canton; three sisters, Nettie Broyles of Burnsville, Minnesota, Bettie Thompson of Greer, South Carolina, and Mary Lou Warrick of Arden; and three grandchildren, Ben Wells and his wife, Elana, of Charleston, South Carolina, Abbey Wells of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Olen Thomas Tatham, III. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Zach Christy officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:15 p.m. prior to the service.
