Olga Earley

Candler – Olga Smathers Earley, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Jennings and Mary Luther Smathers. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frederick Mitchell Earley, who died in 1970. She was a former teacher assistant at Candler Elementary School and a former employee of Medical Action Packaging as well as Discount Shoes. She is survived by three daughters, Theresa Slater and her husband, Charles, of Arden, Rochelle Whiteside and Linna Earley both of Candler; a son, Freddy M. Earley and Salle George of Fletcher; a brother, Robert Smathers of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
