Oliver Allen

Waynesville-Oliver Henry Allen, age 76, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Drury Arthur Allen and Nola Byrd Allen and he was preceded in death by a brother, Lee. He was a member of Cowee Baptist Church and was employed by Dayco for 40 years retiring in 1987. Oliver was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Alene Allen; two daughters, Spring Allen of Waynesville and Ardith Wright of Fletcher; one son, Dale Allen of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Anna Jean Duvall and her husband, Harry, of Norfolk, VA; one brother, James "Lloyd" Allen and his wife, Carol, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Andrew Allen and his wife, Carol, Amber, and D.J. Allen, all of Waynesville, and Charlie and Eric Wright of Fletcher; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Cassie Allen, also of Waynesville; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.
