Waynesville, Ollie Beatrice Silvers Hodo, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Cora Messer Silvers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, Leroy and Hugh Silvers. Ollie was very independent, loved to argue, and was known for her love of cooking. Her favorite meal was cornbread, beans, and taters and buttermilk. She was a substitute lunchroom worker for the Haywood County Schools System, where she enjoyed feeding the children and anyone in need. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Billy H. Hodo; two sons, Billy James Hodo and Kenneth Darrell Hodo both of Waynesville; three daughters, Brenda Kay Hodo, Jeannie Beatrice Hodo and her fiancé, Rex Linnenkohl and Linda Hodo Cerny and her husband, Matt, all of Waynesville; three sisters, Bobbie Messer; Thelma Woody and Doris Messer all of Waynesville; one brother, Carroll Silvers, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Michael Allen Lee, Stephen Andrew Hodo, Jacob William Cerny, and Savannah Jean Cerny; and one great-granddaughter on the way. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
