Clyde - Onley Lefate DeHart was reunited on November 16, 2003 with his wife, Rosalie DeHart who passed away on June 23, 1997.
A native of Swain County and a resident of Haywood County since 1956, he retired in 1986 after 30 years of service with the Haywood County Sheriff's Office and the Clyde Police Department.
Surviving are two children, a daughter and her husband, Sharon and John Shubash of Las Vegas, NV and a son and his wife, Michael and Angela DeHart of Clyde; two brothers, Percival DeHart of Bryson City, NC, George DeHart of Indian Run, NC, a sister, Kate Randolph of Winston-Salem, NC; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Canton First Baptist Church. The Reverend Carl Presnell and Reverend Dr. Rick Gosnell will officiate. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Masonic graveside rites being conducted by the Clyde Lodge #453 AF & AM. The lodge will open at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times the family will be at 29 DeHart Drive, Clyde, NC 28721. Haywood County Sheriff's Office will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
