Ora Bowman

ORA R. BOWMAN Waynesville, Ora Rogers Bowman, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Julius C. and Annie Ferguson Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gayther G. Bowman, who died in 1999; three brothers, Glen, Charlie, and Wiley "Bud" Rogers; and two sisters, Ida Rogers Walls and Edna Rogers Burress. Ora was a homemaker and a member of Richland Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her grandson, and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Bruce Bowman and his wife, Jane, of Waynesville; one brother, Jack Rogers and his wife, Mary, also of Waynesville; one grandson, Bruce Bowman, Jr. and his wife, Debbie; and two great grandchildren, Breanne and Mitchell Bowman, all of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Frady officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
