Ora Buchanan

Ora Arthur Buchanan, age 91, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at St. Joseph's Campus of Mission Hospitals. He was a native of Mitchell County and the son of the late Fate and Laurie Burleson Buchanan. He was preceded in death by all of his 13 siblings; a son, Paul Buchanan, daughters, Wathena McKinney and Arvella Palmer and a grandson, Danny McKinney. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Cane Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC. In addition to his wife of 71 years, Nell Ledford Buchanan, he is survived by three daughters, Wilma Rogers and Laura Trull both of Candler and Sandra Romero of Madison County; two sons, Sherrill Buchanan of Rutherfordton and Ricky Buchanan of Candler; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the his grandson Rusty Buchanan and Reverend G. W. Jameson officiating. Entombment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses of Care Partners, the 6th floor nurses of St. Joseph's Hospital and a very special thanks to his nurse, Anne Marie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
