Pansy Medford

Pansy Young Medford, age 83, of 137 Vista Lane, died Sunday, October 09, 2005 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Lyda Columbus and Mamie Elizabeth Smith Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred C. Trantham, who died in 1968 and a daughter, Carolyn T. Pace, who died in 1996; two sisters, Louise Whitted and Marie Fletcher; two brothers, Robert and Cecil Young. She was a homemaker and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Lewin L. Medford; one daughter, Freida Towe of Canton; two sons, Thomas Trantham and his wife, Shirley of Weaverville and Bruce Trantham and his wife, Kathy of Hendersonville; one step- daughter, Loretta Rector of Johnstown, Ohio and one step-son, Erwin Medford of Grantville, Ga.; two sisters, Polly Hall of Candler and Mary Rose of Burlington; one brother, Benny Young and his wife, Ruth of Canton: eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchilren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Bon- A- Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the services from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Haywood County, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, N.C. 28721.
