"Devoted Daughter and Friend"
Charlotte, Patricia Rae Milner, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Charlotte.
A native of Haywood County she was the daughter of Edith Tate Milner, of Waynesville, and the late Newman Ray Milner. Patricia was a 1966 graduate of Crabtree Iron Duff High School, and was one of the first high school female bus drivers for Haywood County Schools. She was also a graduate of Kings College and was a Service Manager in the trucking industry. Patricia was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. She was a well know referee and umpire for basketball and baseball in the Charlotte area. Pat will always be remembered for her love of her family. She delighted in caring for her mother and made many trips from Charlotte to help and assist in her care. She was especially fond of her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her mother she is survived by a sister, Regina M. Haynes (Jim) of Waynesville; brother, Steve Milner (Karen) of Greenville, South Carolina; five nieces and nephews, Chad Haynes (Brooke), Nikki Owens (Joe), Chelley McDowell (Shamgar), Stephanie Milner, and her finance Glenn Elrod, and Josh Milner; ten great-nieces and great-nephews; best friend, Nancy Rice; and many other special friends in the Charlotte area.
A funeral service for Pat will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Gary L. Hearon and Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
