Patricia McKee Tilley

Waynesville, Patricia Ann McKee Tilley, age 92, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Grace Ridge Retirement Community in Morganton, NC.

A native of Jackson County, North Carolina, she was one of two daughters of the late Fred McKee and Evelyn Green McKee.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Lona Haskett.

Patricia was a beloved second-grade teacher at Hazelwood Elementary for 25 years.  She relished her role of providing a positive foundation to a child’s educational future.  This former member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church and current member of Morganton United Methodist Church had many interests and liked being active.  Patricia was a skilled golfer who won several tournaments with the pinnacle achievement of making a hole-in-one.  She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Patricia is survived by her dear husband of 72 years, Darrell Tilley; daughter, Lyn Daniel (Kent); two sons, Ray Tilley (Kathrine) and James Tilley (Susy); five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
