Patsy"Pat" Ethridge

November 30, 1958 — September 15, 2016

Waynesville, Patsy (Pat) Ann Ethridge, age 57, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at St. Joseph's Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. She was born November 30, 1958, in Hart, Michigan, the daughter of Esther and Graydon Norton. Pat spent most of her adult life in Orlando, Florida. She ran a daycare business so she could be home for her daughters while they were growing up. She also enjoyed her physically active career with Orlando Utilities Commission, where she won Meter Reader of the Year. Pat loved serving the Lord and others. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando. Pat had a heart for the homeless, giving to others even when she was in need. She spent years visiting and playing music for people in nursing homes. Her passion was to play upright bass with a bluegrass band, sharing the gospel of Christ through her music. In her free time, Pat also enjoyed Civil War reenacting throughout Florida with her daughter Rebecca. In May of 2016, Pat and her daughters fulfilled a dream of moving to the mountains of western North Carolina. There, she attended her daughter Julie's wedding in a cabin overlooking the beautiful Smoky Mountains. In June of 2016, Pat was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, despite never smoking. She had peace, trusting in God regardless of the outcome. Pat had two daughters, Julie Moore and Rebecca Ethridge. She was one of eight children: William Norton, Robert Norton, LuAnne Memmott, Nancy Bolterstein, James Norton, Jerry Norton, and Kenneth Norton. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Esther. A private memorial will be held in lieu of funeral services. It is well with her soul.
