Paul Jessup

Clyde, Paul Irvin Jessup, age 72, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at his home. He was a native of Surry County but had lived in Haywood County for the past 20 years. Paul was the son of the late Ora Wayne and Versie Sue East Jessup. He was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edna I. Jessup, one daughter, Paula Johnson and her husband Mark of Mount Airy; three sons, Tony Jessup and his wife Regina of Mount Airy; Paul Jessup II and his wife Tammy and Christopher Jessup, all of Clyde; four sisters, Frankie Haynes of Mount Airy; Anna Cannon and her husband Richard of Statesville, NC; Wanda Collins of Winston-Salem, NC and Sue Jessup of Kernersville, NC; three brothers, Charles Jessup and his wife Darlene of Elizabeth City, NC; Weldon Jessup and his wife Anne of Hamptonville, NC and Larry Jessup of Georgia; seven grandchildren; Brittany Creed, Tyler Jessup, Cody Jessup, Brandon Jessup, Brandi Jessup, Christopher Jessup and Brently Jessup; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Terrell and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. Reverend Jimmy Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church, 196 Rainy Branch Road, Clyde, NC 28721. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
