Paul Williams

Paul Marion Williams, age 85, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at his residence. He was a native of Buncombe County and the son of the late Agustus M. and Ellen Joyce Williams. He was the youngest of 14 children. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Williams was a member of the Hominy Masonic Lodge #491 since 1948 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. He moved to Southern California in 1953 and became a realtor, a member of the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He and his wife moved back to Buncombe County in 1992 and he did volunteer work with AARP tax counseling as long as his health permitted. He was a United States Army World War II veteran serving in the Pacific 26th Signal Company Division. In addition to his wife of 61 years, Vergie Lee Clark Williams, he is survived by a sister, Ethel McDonald. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Phillip Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
