Paula Price

Paula Sue Devlin Price, age 72, passed away Wednesday, April 14 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home from complications of Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Born in Canton, NC on June 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John Greenwood and Jessie Mae Miller Devlin and the widow of Wiley C. Price, who passed away November 26, 2005. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Devlin Swartzel in 1989 and Joyce Marie Devlin Knol in 2008. Paula and Wiley were married for over 50 years and in that time, she enjoyed being an Air Force wife, traveling to Germany, Guam and various locations in the United States, and mother to her two girls, Jessica and Johnna. Upon returning to her home town in 1970, she devoted her time to raising her family, decorating her home and being active in her church. When her granddaughters were born, she flourished under the new role of "Gammie". There was nothing she enjoyed more than to be with her granddaughters, Kelly and Jennifer. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jessica Brown and her husband, Ronnie of Waynesville and Johnna McNamara and her husband, Steve of Hendersonville; two granddaughters, Kelly and Jennifer McNamara; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010, at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler, of which she was a member. The Reverend Jack W. Collins and the Reverend Wayne Willett will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Ridgeway Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgeway Baptist Church Lottie Moon Fund, 525 Old US 19/23 Highway, Candler, NC 28716. Jessica and Johnna would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the entire Pisgah Valley Retirement Community. We appreciate all the acts of kindness and care each staff member demonstrated both before and during our mother's illness.
