Pauline Wiltse

Waynesville-Services for Pauline Cletus Wiltse, 99, of Waynesville, NC, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Kokomo and Monticello, IN, will be held at Wells Funeral Home, 296 North Main Street in Waynesville. Friends may call from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. followed by graveside services at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. Services will be led by Reverends Timothy Pounds and Ray Phillips. She died at 11:p.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Ray Phillips of Waynesville. Born October 9, 1908, in Howard County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Zelpha Crume. On June 7, 1925, she married Homer E. Wiltse, who preceeded her in death on May 29, 1975. She and Homer were in the grocery and restaurant motel ownership, farming, and real estate businesses in Florida and Indiana during their 50 years together. She moved to Waynesville in 1983, spending winters in Florida. She loved reading, tv, music, and her family. Pauline has one surviving sister, Mary Pounds, of Clyde, NC and four daughters, Joanne (Don) Phipps, of Mercer Island, WA, Carolyn (Norman) Thompson of Monticello, IN, Dolores (Ray) Phillips of Waynesville, NC and Janet (George) Verdegem of Cullowhee, NC. She has numerous descendants. Preceding her in death were one sister, Arlene Coate; brothers, Chester, Fredrick, and Robert Crume; grandson David Thompson; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786 or to a Christian charity of one's choice.
