Canton- Pearl Duckett Carswell- age 100 of the Thickety community died Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Autumn Care of Waynesville. She was a native and life-long resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late James Robert and Lola Hill Duckett. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.T. "Bud" Carswell who died in 1968; one brother, Charlie; and five sisters, Dot, Grace, Gertrude, Hannah and Lucy. Pearl was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church and an avid crafts woman and loved to garden. She is survived by three daughters, Lucille Elkins, and her husband, Doice; Barbara Bolden and Sue Cox, and her husband, Steve, all of Canton; one son, Joe Carswell, of Canton; one sister, Phoebe Huffman, of Canton; two grandchildren, Rebecca Al Fandi and Anthony Bolden; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Bradshaw and Justin Dietz and two great-great-grandchildren, Mysti Dietz and Justin Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Stephen Miller and Reverend James Parham officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
