Pearl Cowan Grogan, age 98, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at her residence. A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Ransom and Bonnie McConnell Cowan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank D. Grogan, who died in 1998; six brothers, Birch, David, Woodrow, George, Kenneth, and Bragg Cowan; and two sisters, Sarah Brown and Isabelle Cowan. Pearl was a member of East Fork Baptist Church. She loved her God, her family, and her church. Pearl was also famous for her delicious pecan pies. She is survived by a daughter Nancy Fore and her husband, Gary, of Greensboro; one brother, Richard Cowan of Weaverville; two grandchildren, Ken Fore, and Kara Flores and her husband, Leonardo; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Blake Flores. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at East Fork Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Cruso First Responders, 13264 Cruso Road, Canton, NC 28716.
