Pearl Powell

Candler- Pearl Trull Hedden Powell - age 92, died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was born on July 17, 1914 to the late Wayne and Nannie Trull of the Cruso community of Haywood County. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Hedden who died in 1978, and her second husband, Nevil "Dick" Powell who died in 1993; a son, Orville Hedden; a granddaughter, Dianne Hedden and three brothers, Mark, Frank, and Ralph Trull all of Candler, NC. Pearl was the oldest member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler, having been a member for over 62 years. She was the owner/operator of Hedden's Fabric Center in Candler for 12 years before retiring. Pearl was a talented seamstress who loved to hunt and fish. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Allen and her husband, Charles of Candler; daughter-in-law, Jane Hedden of South Carolina; two step-sons, Sam Powell and his wife, Doris and Pat Powell and his wife, Gail all of Clyde; one step-daughter, Joanne Ensley and her husband, Tom of Canton; two granddaughters; three grandsons; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews, and Mildred (almost like a daughter) Rogers and her husband, Bob of Tennessee. Pearl's family would like to express a heartfelt thank-you to everyone at Silver Bluff Nursing Home for the kindness and care they provided to Pearl during these last years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with Scott Sprinkle and Reverend Wiley Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old US 19/23 Hwy., Candler, NC 28715.
