Pearl Stafford

Pearl Lee Sanford Stafford, age 103, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas "Tom" and Nellie Sanford. Pearl Lee enjoyed quilting, sewing, and was a member of Candler House of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil William Stafford, who died in 1986; a daughter, Betty Williams; a son, Cromer Eugene Stafford; and 14 brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Roy W. Stafford of Greenville, North Carolina; one sister, Daisy Gosnell of Spartanburg; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Chuck Waldroup and Reverend Malcom McCarson officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
