Waynesville, Peggy Mathis DeLozier, age 67, of Mica Mine Road, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at MedWest Haywood Regional Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Edna Phillips Mathis. She was employed at Transylvania Hospital for fifteen years as a medical technician and was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Peggy loved nature photography and also enjoyed growing and capturing photos of beautiful roses. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ted DeLozier; a daughter, Paula Mathis and her husband, Clinton, of Waynesville; one son, Matthew DeLozier of Gray, Tennessee; one sister, Patricia Barnes and her husband, Clifton, of Waynesville; two brothers, Tommy Mathis and wife, Paula and Eddie Mathis and his wife, Ernestine, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Amanda Sims and husband, Greg, Lori Mathis, and Jonathan, Ethan, and Javan DeLozier; and one great-grandson, Mason Sims. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Conner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David and Andy Barnes, Clinton Mathis, Greg Sims, Bob Phillips, and Bob Buckelew. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
