Peggy Harkins

April 3, 1938 — November 25, 2009

Waynesville, Peggy Ann Carver Harkins, age 71, died on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John Kelly and Rachel Smith Carver. She retired in 2001 from Haywood Regional Medical Center as a CNA with over 25 years service. Peggy especially enjoyed her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Douglas Wayne Harkins; four daughters, Linda Shelton Trambley and her husband, David, of Woodstock, GA, Diana Shelton Robinson, and her husband, Rick, of Canton, Melanie Shelton Heideman, and her husband, John, of Kennesaw, GA and April Shelton Boyd, and her husband, Rick, of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Melissa Heideman O'Neal and her husband, Kyle, Stacy Heideman, Sara Parton, Andrew Boyd and Rachel Boyd and one great granddaughter, Makayla Parton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
