Perry Holcombe, Jr.

Perry Lee Roy Holcombe, Jr., age 48, died Sunday, May 10, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and the son of Perry Lee Roy Holcombe, Sr. and Dorothy Joann Fowler Holcombe. He graduated from Enka High School in 1977. He was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church. Perry was a great outdoorsman and loved camping, fishing, and his Great Pyrenees dog "Max", and his two cats "Bullet" and "Booger". He preferred going barefoot. Perry had a wonderful singing voice that he shared with many people at local nursing homes and on WKJV 1380 AM. Perry was a loving and respectful son, brother, and friend. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Vickie Harris and her husband, Tommy, and Kathy Foreman and her husband, Von, a brother Keith Holcombe; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Harold Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairmont Baptist Church, 36 Surrett Road, Candler, NC 28715.
