Candler – Perry Lee Roy Holcombe, Sr., 83, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his residence.
Perry was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of the late Lon and Dora Penland Holcombe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Perry Lee Roy Holcombe, Jr., who died in 2008; three brothers and a sister. Perry retired from BASF in 1991 with 33 years of service and a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. He was in business with Ray Cordell as owners and operators of a scrap metal business where they were well known throughout our region.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Fowler Holcombe; two daughters, Vickie Harris (Tommy) and Kathy Foreman, all of Candler; and one son, Keith Holcombe (Debra) of Candler; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Ben Heise and Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held at 2:00 p.m., after the service, at the family’s home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
