Perry Roberts

Perry Roberts, age 56, of 1207 Sorrells Cove died Thursday, September 5, 2002 at his residence.

He was a native of and had resided in Haywood County most of his life. He was the son of the late Elbert and Riddie Davis Roberts.

He was a Norfolk-Southern Railway employee with 32 years of service. He was an avid horseman, outdoorsman and a gunsmith. He served four years with the United States Marines in Vietnam and six years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves being discharged as a sergeant. He was a member of Pigeon River Masonic Lodge #386 AF&AM.

In addition to his wife of twelve years, Nancy Greene Roberts of Clyde, he is survived by three stepsons, Robbie Greene, Mike Greene and Kevin Trantham all of Clyde; one brother, Kenneth Roberts of Clyde and one nephew, Chris Mace of Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10th in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverends James H. Moore and Kevin Boone. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Marine Corps. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Greene, Marvin Nesbit, David Manis, Mike Greene, Kevin Trantham, Rodney Lindsey and Dan Shirlen. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Farmer, Johnny Coleman, Benny Wines, Bill Nelson and Mack McDevit.
