Clyde, Peter Lockwood Aldrich, 65 returned home to God on March 20, 2018, on the Spring Equinox at the VA Hospice Facility in Asheville N.C. His beloved companion, Nancy Powell was there to say aloha to her 12 year long-time companion. Peter was born August 2, 1952 in Milford, MA, the son of the late Joseph A. and Margaret (Moonjian) Aldrich. He is survived by a sister, Karen and her husband Rick, and 3 brothers, Paul Aldrich and his wife Sally, David Aldrich, Bruce Aldrich, a son Justin and 2 granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Peter graduated from Grafton High School in 1970 and was an outstanding pitcher on the high school baseball team. He enlisted in the Army after high school serving in the 82nd Airborne division as an Army Ranger. After discharge he worked in South Carolina and eventually moved to Colorado where he worked as a stone mason and a trail guide. He most recently resided in the Fines Creek area of North Western Carolina where he has lived for the past 12 years.
He loved the outdoors, his dogs and cats, and his beautiful home in the foothills of the Appalachians.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Wells Funeral Homes Inc. and Cremation Services of Waynesville Memorial donations may be made in memory of Peter Lockwood Aldrich to the VA Hospice, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805 where they took such loving care of Peter during his last two weeks of life.
