Maggie Valley, Peter Franklin Hession, age 72, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he resided in New Port Richey, FL, and had lived in Haywood County for the past 10 years. He was the son of the late James and Mary Keane Hession. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and also served in the Air Force Reserves. He was owner/operator of Misty Mountain Ranch Bed and Breakfast and Cabins in Maggie Valley. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen Hession; three sons, Jim Carroll and his wife Sandra, Patrick Hession and his wife, Dana, and Peter Hession, Jr. and his wife, Gail, all of Florida; two daughters, Linda Carroll, of Wisconsin and Dawn Harper and her husband, Mike, of Florida; and 11 grandchildren, Sarah Ruhle, Alysha Fruchey, Alexander and Erica Carroll, Landon and Lena Hession, Bradley, Dylan and Haley Hession, Kimberly Pridgen, and Makayla Harper. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with military honors conducted at 6:30 p.m. by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held later in the week in Chicago, Illinois.
