Philip Lord, Sr.

Clyde, Philip Warren Lord, Sr., age 81, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at his residence.

A native of Germantown, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late John Arthur and Edna Jefferis Lord.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Arthur, II and Peter Jefferis Lord.  Philip was a member of St. Andrew’s On-the-Hill Episcopal Church.  He received his bachelor’s degree in history at Hobart College in Geneva, New York and his Master’s in Theology at Theological  Seminary in New York City, New York.  Philip enjoyed reading a lot about history  and politics and playing with his beloved dogs.

Philip is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan Lord; son, Philip Lord, Jr., and his wife, Michelle, of Bakersville, North Carolina; granddaughter, Zoë Lord; brother-in-law, Douglas Staiger, and his wife, Sheila; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Cracker.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Andrew’s On-the-Hill Episcopal Church.

The care of Mr. Lord has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
