Phyllis Ann Clark Burrell, born on July 25, 1947, in Haywood County, passed away peacefully with the embrace of her daughter and son-in-law’s hands, at her daughter’s home.
For over 25 years, Phyllis carved out a legacy as the owner of Sunset Mobile Home Park, a place that became a vibrant community, marked by her kindness and unwavering spirit. To those who knew her, she was much more than a business owner; she was an anchor for many, unfailingly generous and filled with warmth.
Her heart found joy in life's simple pleasures. Phyllis delighted in time spent with her family, creating lasting memories during hunting and fishing trips at their cherished second home in Tignall, Georgia. There, surrounded by nature's tranquility, she nurtured bonds that will linger in the hearts of her loved ones forever. A lover of yard sales, Phyllis found beauty in the eclectic and the forgotten, teaching her family to see the value in every find.
Phyllis was a devoted member of Rocky Face Baptist Church, where her unwavering faith and commitment to her church community flourished. She embraced gardening and canning, brightening her home with vibrant flowers and sharing her love for hummingbirds—a passion shared with her grandmother, mother and loving daughter. These delicate creatures, flitting gracefully from bloom to bloom, were a symbol of the joy Phyllis breathed into every aspect of life.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted daughter, Stephanie Miller (Tim), and her son, Ronald Larry "Ronnie" Burrell, Jr. The laughter and love she shared will continue to echo through twelve grandchildren—Seth Burrell (Suzanna), Joshuah Burrell, Jordaan Burrell, Jacob Burrell, Isaac Burrell, Elijah Burrell, Isabella Burrell, Madeline Burrell, Austin Mackey, Jesse Mackey, Hunter Miller—and five great-grandchildren, Anissa Burrell, Anzleigh Mackey, Colby Mackey, Brysen Mackey and Harper Mackey. Two nieces, Elizabeth "Janel" Miyagi and Misty Clark, as well as Lisa Anderson, who was like a daughter to her, also carry her spirit in their hearts.
Phyllis's journey was intertwined with those she loved who preceded her, including her caring parents, William David Clark and Glady Elizabeth Clark, and her dear husband of sixty years, Ronald "R.L." Burrell, Sr., who left this world earlier in 2024. In the tapestry of her life, she also mourned the loss of her two baby girls, Wanda and Revonda Burrell and a brother, Roger Dale Clark. Each thread pulled together in a magnificent design of love, loss and enduring memory.
As we gather to honor her legacy, there will be a visitation held on October 15, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Rocky Face Baptist Church, located at 1635 Worley Cove Road, Canton, NC with Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bon-A-Venture off of Old Clyde Road in Clyde.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The care of Mrs. Burrell has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
