Pierrette Laporte

Pierrette Mercier Laporte, age 79, of Beaver Run South, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011, at her daughter's residence. A native of Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the late, David Mercier and Urbanie Rochefort. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Laporte, who died in 2008; one brother; and one sister. Peppy moved to the states in 1966. She lived in Florida most of those years and then moved to Waynesville and resided in Canton for the last six years. Peppy loved spending time at the senior center in Waynesville and playing bingo at the Canton Ingles. She is survived by two sons, Daniel D. Laporte and his wife, Margie, of Barnardsville and Luc Laporte of Edgewater, FL; two daughters, Lucie Little of Candler and Lyne Poirier-Sharps and her husband, Loyde, of Crossville, TN; four sisters, Elizabeth Mercier Perreault of Princeville, Quebec, Rita Mercier Boulianne of Vald'or, Quebec; Annette Mercier Zolnierczyk of St'e Catherines, Ontario, and Michelle Mercier Leckie of Brossard, Quebec; one brother, Arthur Mercier of Laval, Quebec; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating.
