Asheville – Polly Ann Young Hall, 94, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 3, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Polly was a native of Haywood County but had resided in Buncombe for most of her life and was a daughter of the late Lyda and Mamie Smith Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marlin Hall, who died in 2006; three brothers, Robert, Cecil, and Benny Young; and four sisters, Pansy, Marie, Louise, and Mary. Polly was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir, loved teaching Sunday school, and was a long-time member of Nannie Muse Sunday school class. Polly was an avid gardener with a green thumb and had an immaculate garden. She also enjoyed tending to her chickens. Polly loved her family and took pride in raising them.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet Hall (Jim Blalock) of Pickens, South Carolina and Sherry Hall of Asheville; a son, James Marlin Hall, Jr. (Lisa) of Asheville; four grandchildren, Morgan Flowers (Greg), Hunter Hall (Jessica), Taylor Lau (Victor), and Kim Wirszyla (Zach); and five great-grandchildren, Evan, Owen, Aubrey, and Henry Hall, and Asher Flowers.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Men or to Ridgeway Baptist WMU, 525 Old 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
