Quaye Hill

March 31, 1918 — May 25, 2008

Clyde, Quaye Elizabeth Justice Hill, age 90, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Richard S. and Iowa King Justice. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Elvira Rhinehart Justice; her husband, Sam M. Hill, who died in 2007; three sisters, Mabel Henderson, Carrie Mae Hill and Hazel Stevens; three brothers, L.J. Wood, Ernest Wood and Eugene Wood. Quaye was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for 74 years. She is survived by a daughter, Freda Hill; a son, Carroll "Gene" Hill and his wife, Joan; a foster daughter, Novella Wood Rogers and her husband, David, all of Clyde; two sisters, Joretta Wallen of Burnsville, NC and Sue Irwin and her husband, Richie, of Grass Valley, CA; two brothers, Glynden "Bud" Justice and his wife, Velma, of Candler, NC and Neil Justice and his wife, Martha, of Clyde; three grandchildren, Jennifer Frizzell and her husband, J.D., of Sylva, Ricky Hill and his wife, Sherry and Eugenia Moore, also of Clyde; three great-grandchildren, Ernie and Mary Hill and Samuel Moore; two foster grandchildren, Kristy and Harold Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Charlie Simpson and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery Fund, 537 Bald Creek Road, c/o Ben Best, Clyde, NC 28721.
