Rachel Green

Waynesville-Rachel Lucinda James Green, age 81, of the Fines Creek Community, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 23, 2006. Born on July 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Doshie James. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Arthur Green, who always stood by her side; two grandchildren, Wayne Ledford and Helen Green; and several brothers and sisters, Nancy, Horace, Rosie, William, Sylvania Ann, and Bertha. She was a loving wife, momma, grandma, sister, aunt, and a friend to all. She was the heart of her family and will be greatly missed and always remembered with love. She touched the lives of many people. She never turned anyone away from her home or her heart. She was a long-time member of Fines Creek United Methodist Church. She left behind to cherish her memories, three daughters, Neta Mae Rabb and her husband, Doc, of the Fines Creek Community, Shirley Ledford and her husband, Johnny, of the Crabtree Community, Mary Jane Everhart and her husband, Mark, of Cherokee; two sons, L. J. Green and his wife, Evelyn, Jim Green, and his wife, Bobbie, all of Fines Creek; 14 grandchildren, Hugh, Doyle, Sandra, Juanita, Tammy, Richard, Janet, Tony, Andy, Larry, Crystal, Arthur, John, and Shelby; 12 great grandchildren, Daniel, Alina, Dominique, Dewayne, Bryan, Cody, Daniel, John, Holly, Rachel, Anita, and Kayla; and one great-great granddaughter, Americus. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2006 at Fines Creek United Methodist Church where she will lie in state until time of services. Reverend Jerry Nelson, Reverend Jimmy Moore, and Reverend Paul Davenport will officiate. Her body will be laid to rest at Fines Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Fines Creek United Methodist Church, c/o Fred Rathbone, 209 Chestnut Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786. "We will miss you momma and grandma."
