RACHEL GENEVA STAMEY
Waynesville-Rachel Geneva ''Genny'' Brown Stamey, age 87, of Francis Street, died Monday, March 4, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Madison County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Datus and Lillie Fowler Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Stamey, and a daughter, Eula Jo Noland, who both died in 1984. She was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, William Stamey, of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Thomas Brown, of Sanger, California; five grandchildren, Deborah Jo Reed, of Canton, Bill David Noland, of Swannonoa, June Ann Noland and Dean Allen Noland, both of Raleigh, and Kevin Stamey, of San Antonio, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service, and at other times, the family will be at the residence on Francis Street.
